「アルジタル」の製品づくり
宇宙の背景と自然界と精神的な存在とのつながりと呼ばれているクレイの研究を行っていた生物学者ジュゼッペ・フェラーロ。生まれ故郷であるイタリアのシチリア島のグリーンクレイが私たちの体や肌に様々な効果をもたらすことに気づき、1979年コスメブランド〈アルジタル〉を設立する。
「海洋性ミネラルをたっぷり含んだグリーンクレイは、アンチエイジング効果にすぐれ、肌を柔らかくし、弾力をもたせてくれます。肌を健やかに保つので肌悩みを抱えている人にもおすすめです」とフェラーロは言う。
アルジタルの製品は、グリーンクレイとバイオダイナミック農法で育て上げられたハーブ、イタリアの天然水など、地球の恵みをそれらが持つ最大限の力を生かし全て手作業で生産されている。ひとつひとつにこだわりと愛情が詰まっているのも特徴的だ。そんなものづくりへの信念こそ、ヨーロッパにある数多くのオーガニック認証協会で、認証を得ているという結果に表れているのだろう。アルジタルは、世界で最も厳格なオーガニック認証のひとつであるデメター認証をコスメブランドで初めてイタリア国内で取得したブランドでもあるのだ。
Argital’s manufacturing process is full of earth’s blessings
Giuseppe Ferraro is a biologist who has been studying the green clay; which is said to be the connection between the backgrounds of universe, nature, and the spiritual world. He became aware of the power that the green clay have on our body and skin, and started his cosmetic brand ‘Argital’ in 1979. “Green clay contains oceanic minerals which perform excellently for anti-aging, nourishing skin, and improving skin elasticity. It also maintains the skin healthy, making it a recommendation for people with skin troubles.”
The products for ‘Argital’ are hand-made, fully enhancing its natural power of the Earth’s blessings, using biodynamic herbs, Italian mineral water, and green clay. Their commitments in producing each product carefully and with love, is what resulted in receiving certifications from various European organic associations. Argital was the first cosmetic brand to be authorized by one of the most authentic organic associations; Demeter.

フェラーロにとってのオーガニックライフは、「他の人々への配慮と地球の生命への敬意で作られた別世界のようなもの。この世界が、自分の中のライフを感じられる場所」だと話す。
週末はセーリングを楽しむ彼は、音楽の作詞、トランペットやクラリネットを演奏するなど音楽への関心も高い。そんな彼の生活において不可欠なもの。それは、“想像すること”、“考えること”、“作ること”の３つ。５年後10年後これから先、年を重ねる毎、彼は様々なものを想像し、作り上げていくのだろう。そんな彼が考えている次世代に伝えていきたいことは、学校、ギャラリー、歴史など、アートが生き続ける様々な場所を残していくことだ。なぜならばそれは、「芸術的なアプローチを通して、人生を愛することを伝えていきたいから」とフェラーロは言う。
Loving the life through artistic methods
The organic life to Ferraro is “the different world created by deriving lives on Earth and treating other people carefully. This whole world is where I feel myself living.”
On weekends, he would enjoy sailing, writing songs, and playing trumpet and clarinet. “To think, to imagine, and to create is what I consider fundamental in my life. I hope to help places where schools, galleries, histories and arts remain to stay so that I can teach the next generations how to love life through artistic approaches.”
