Portland Oregon is a city known for its perfect balance between urban and natural aspects. Alima Pure is a natural mineral cosmetic brand founded in Portland in 2004, and both the brand director and art director of the company, Alyson and Sara, say that connecting with the nature is a large part of their lives. “I go camping, hiking, or jogging in the woods when I have free time to put myself in the nature as much as possible. I love swimming as well. I found a secret swimming spot in the woods just a few days ago! Jumping into the cold water refreshes both my body and mind. (Alyson) ” “I live in the north side of the woods in Portland, and I take a long walk of an hour or two with my dog everyday. He is so energetic. The walk is imperative to me because although it's the same walk everyday, I encounter something new each day, and I get to feel the season in my bones. (Sara) ”

“My mom was so conscious about being organic. We had a garden in our yard and ate organic food growing up, so the idea of“Organic Life”is just natural for me. (Sara) ”“I had a completely different childhood. I hadn't known a about organic food until I was maybe in college. I moved to Portland after graduation, and I think this city taught me the ABC's of organics. “Organic Life” is not just about food and cosmetics. It's about our life as a whole. For instance, when you buy food, you must think how that choice is going to help your city and contribute to the community. Since Portland is a medium size city, I can feel what is going on in this community. (Alyson) ”
“An organic lifestyle is a value that really received spot light in the past few years. New approaches toward organic products are being launched in various industries. I must say that there are still challenges to overcome, but overall, I think it's heading to the right direction. I hope to see more expansion in the future. (Sara) ”

As much as they adore the connection with nature, they place importance in relationship with others as well. “When I host a home party, I try to give them a relaxing time as if they are at their own house. (Sara) ”“Kate (founder of Alima Pure) taught us to serve easy-to-cook food so that we can communicate with the guests as much as possible. If the host is back in the kitchen preparing food forever, the party will be ruined. Maybe serve one or two food that could be easily prepared using a single pot, and along with bread, cheese, and salad. This way, the guests can serve themselves, and all of us can sit down and use the time wisely for communication. (Alyson) ”
